Delicious small dishes with spinach and cream cheese

Spinach and cream cheese can be combined in many ways. Still, when it comes to attending a gathering with a good dish, a good cream of spinach will be your answer.

Why is this so amazing?

Well, unlike the other dishes that need filling,  a cream you can spread beyond is more appetizing,  addictive and will get all the guests’ attention. It is also quick to make!

This cream is also known as a  dip of spinach and cream cheese, which sounds more familiar. The secret to making it so delicious is to add the right amounts of base ingredients, as well as season it with salt, pepper and fresh garlic. This simple step is what will give the tasty creamy feeling.

In this article we will show you the classic recipe for a spinach and cream cheese dip that you will be able to make in  less than half an hour. So get all the ingredients, get your kitchen ready and start working!

Spinach and cream cheese dip

  • 1 packet spinach (500 g)
  • 1/4 cup cream (50 g)
  • 1/4 cup parmesan (50 g)
  • 2-3 cloves fresh garlic
  • 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese (50 g)
  • Spices: salt and pepper
  • Optional: a stick of celery (20 g)

  1. Boil the spinach in a saucepan. Before it starts to boil, add salt in a pinch.
  2. When the spinach is cooked, pour off  all the  water.
  3. Then, grate both cheeses. Afterwards, you  put the cheese on one plate, and save some of it on another.
  4. Put the spinach and cream in a bowl and mix well with a hand mixer.
  5. Finely chop the garlic (and possibly the celery) and add to the spinach cream, together with the  grated cheese. Mix again so that all the ingredients are well mixed.
  6. Add a little salt and pepper (as much as you want). Mix again.
  7. Sprinkle some parmesan cheese on top and serve.

This spinach cream can be spread on biscuits, bread, cassava, tortilla chips, nachos, raw vegetables and other snacks. It all depends on your personal taste (and of course what your guests like).

Other varieties of spinach and cream cheese

The American version of this cream is made with cream cheese and less garlic. The celery has been taken out. Instead use:

  • 1 pinch strong pepper
  • Pieces of heart artichoke
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (40 g)
  • Sour cream (30 ml)

It should be mentioned that  you will need a stove for this version.

There is also a Spanish version, where, unlike the previous one, you add more garlic flavor (instead of two cloves you use two whole garlic) and include  semi-hardened cheese. Thus, this cream will be more intense, as well as fuller.

To make it you will need:

The Spanish version

  • 2 whole garlic
  • 2 1/2 cups cream cheese (300 g)
  • 3/4 cup semi-hardened cheese (150 g)
  • 2 cups fresh spinach (80 g)
  • Spices: salt (to taste)
  • Alternatively: fresh parsley

  1. Wash the spinach and boil it in water. When done, strain it and allow to cool to room temperature.
  2. Then peel and chop the garlic (not too small).
  3. Put cheese, spinach and garlic in a bowl. Use a hand mixer and mix everything well.
  4. Add a little salt and continue to mix. As soon as it is ready, add a sprig of parsley.

This version of spinach and cream cheese is good with bread, but can also be enjoyed with other crispy snacks.

Another option is to  create a contrast between the cream and the dough base. It is also fantastic with potato chips!
