Fight the symptoms of Hansen's disease naturally

Hansen’s disease (also called leprosy / leprosy in Norway) starts gradually. It can take several years, and maybe more, from the time you become infected until the disease begins to show symptoms. Then follows a long, slow course.

A spot on the skin that is  sensitive to temperature, pain or touch is a danger signal that you may have this disease. Skin and nerve cells are the ones that are mainly attacked.

In this article we will teach you more about this disease and we will show you some natural ways to fight the symptoms.

Note: Below you will find some strong descriptions of symptoms of Hansen’s disease, so it is recommended that you skip the next two sections if you have a sensitive soul.

Symptoms of Hansen’s disease, or leprosy

The early symptoms are often  nosebleeds, headaches and fever.

There are two fairly well-known variations of Hansen’s disease (although a patient may have a mixture of both), and these are both characterized by the patient having nodules and diffuse infiltration on the skin:

  • The lymph nodes are dilated.
  • The nodules, which are often found on the face and elsewhere on the body, will quickly change the patient’s appearance. These nodules tend to rupture and ache, and can often damage the patient’s ears, nose, or both. Sometimes you will see parts of the skull, and the nodules attack the eyes. Other times, they make large openings in the cheeks, so the inside of the mouth is visible.
  • The disease leads to  hair loss, which affects the beard and eyebrows, and gives the cheeks, eyebrows and ears a swollen and uneven expression.
  • Sometimes chewing food will be impossible, and  swallowing will be difficult.

When the larynx is attacked:

  • The voice becomes hoarse or completely lost.
  • It becomes difficult to breathe, the  palate develops tumors, and the teeth fall out.
  • The sense of smell and taste usually disappears.
  • The knots can appear on the limbs, which causes the patient’s flesh to fall off and the bones to appear.

Causes

Leprosy is caused by a bacterium called  Hansen’s bacillus . It is similar in many ways to tuberculosis. The disease is contagious, but progresses slowly.

Leprosy develops in 10% of children where the parents have leprosy, but then through exposure, not inheritance. There have also been cases where the infection has been caused by the placenta.

These bacteria are often found in tears, sputum, nasal fluid, urine and vaginal secretions. In certain autopsies, they have found the disease in the liver, spleen and other internal organs. Hansen’s bacteria usually penetrate the body through mucous membranes in the nose or skin openings.

Certain insects can carry the bacteria and transmit them to humans, and there is also a chance that there are other ways to get infected.
