There are several reasons why you can get this common disorder, such as water that enters the ear when bathing or swimming, foreign particles or insects that enter the ear canal, or an infection in a tooth that spreads to the ear. .   • Otitis externa or external ear inflammation is  characterized by pus, pain, redness and temporary hearing loss. It is usually caused by bacteria, or to a lesser extent by fungi and viruses.
  • Otitis media or otitis media  is common in children, and its symptoms include fever, pain, irritability, partial hearing loss, and loss of appetite. This happens when the space in the middle ear is clogged with fluid and mucus. Some people are more prone to this type of ear infection, and the condition can become chronic.
  • Internal or internal otitis can cause symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, vomiting and loss of balance. This happens when the inner part of the ear becomes inflamed. This is not very common, but the symptoms are intense.

  • Mash a handful of basil leaves with a handful of plantain leaves. Heat them until they are thoroughly warm, and apply them as a wrap on the affected ear.
  • Heat half a tablespoon of olive oil and soak a cotton ball in it. Place the cotton ball in the outer ear canal of the ear and leave it there for an hour.
  • Cut up and crush an onion. Place it in a cloth and heat it in the microwave. Apply as a compress on the affected ear.

  • Heat a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil with a clove of crushed garlic. When it is hot, soak a cotton ball in the oil and insert it into the outer ear canal of the affected ear.

  • Heat two handfuls of rice and place a cloth bag or towel in it. Place this on a pillow and lie with the affected ear on the pillow to help treat ear infections.
  • In a clean, dry glass bottle, add seven drops of olive oil and the contents of a vitamin E capsule. Then add two cloves of crushed garlic and mix well. Close the bottle and heat it in a water bath for one minute. When the liquid is completely heated, filter it and put a few drops in the ear. Not recommended for cases involving perforated eardrums or ear plaster.

Some more ways to treat ear infections

  • Boil two tablespoons of absinthe with one liter of water for 10 minutes. When the liquid cools down, let the steam from it rise into the affected ear.
  • Add two tablespoons of wine glass to a cup of boiling water. Cover and allow to cool. Soak a cotton ball in the liquid and place it in the ear.
  • Squeeze the juice from a lemon and soak a cotton ball in it. Carefully insert it into the ear for 10 minutes at bedtime. This treatment is good for pain caused by a lot of earwax.
  • Crush ten chamomile flowers in four tablespoons of olive oil and leave for two days. Apply with a cotton swab. This treatment is good for pain caused by excessive wax production.

Heat helps a lot

  • Heat two tablespoons of almond oil. Cool to room temperature. Put two drops in the ear canal and cover with a cotton swab.
  • Boil a handful of oregano leaves and half a cup of water for three minutes. Remove from the heat and allow to cool. Strain and pour it into a dropper. Pour three drops into the affected ear (as long as the eardrum is not perforated).
Home treatments to treat ear infections
  • Heat a potato in the microwave on low heat. Wrap it in a towel or cloth and hold it over your ear.
  • Add a handful of salt to 1/2 cup boiling water. Soak a cloth in the warm water and place it on your ear.
  • Grate a radish and heat it up. Wrap it in a thin cloth and hold it over your ear until it has cooled.
  • Put three or four drops of aloe vera into the ear canal and tilt your head to the opposite side for several minutes. This treatment must not be used if the eardrum is perforated.
  • Crush a handful of leaves from a beetroot and get the juice out of them. Use a dropper to get three or four drops into your ear.

How to avoid pain and infections in the ears

  • Never use cotton swabs to clean the ear.
  • If you have a sore throat, get it treated.
  • Boost your immune system.
  • Avoid sharing headphones with anyone.
  • Avoid swimming in ponds, lakes and rivers.
  • Never insert foreign objects into the ears.
  • Sleep on your side to help drain your ear.
