Is It Really True That Popcorn Is Healthy?

There are many of us popcorn eaters in this country. When we go to the cinema or lie on the couch at home and watch movies, we often choose popcorn as a snack. But what exactly is popcorn? Is it healthy? In this article, we will study the reverse side of popcorn.

Diacetyl also damages nerve cells. This study warned against the neurological toxins that can be caused by the overexposure of this chemical. Even products that try to avoid using Diacetyl use similar artificial substances which unfortunately are only other versions of Diacetyl.

Perfluorinated octanoic acid is a synthetic chemical used in the lining of the bags micropop grains are stored and popped in. Its function is to prevent the accumulation of liquid and fat. It provides a non-stick surface on the inside of the bags. This is carcinogenic and toxic to animals and humans, and remains in the environment as an undefined form. Elevated cholesterol, chronic kidney problems and respiratory problems such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are some of the health problems associated with perfluorinated octanoic acid.

Studies show that 20% of the perfluorinated octanoic acid in the blood of those who eat micropop grains comes from the popcorn they have eaten. As much as 80% of these toxic gases are released the moment you open the bag. Thereafter, it will gradually decrease, although the gases are always present after opening.

Hydrogenated oils

Most micropop grains are made with a type of meditative oil, usually coconut or soybean oil. These can clog blood vessels and cause heart disease and inflammation. FDA guidelines allow manufacturers to round the trans fat value down to zero if it is found in less than 0.5 grams per serving. Therefore, in theory, they can write “no trans fat” when it can be as much as half a gram per serving.

The natural alternative to micropop grain is, of course, popcorn made at home. It is actually surprisingly easy to make, it causes less damage and contains only the natural benefits of corn. The recipe is as follows:

– Heat 2 teaspoons of oil or butter in a large pan, medium heat.

– Add 1/2 cup organic corn kernels (dry).

– Mix everything in oil / butter and put on a lid.

– The corn will start popping in a minute. So when you hear that it stops popping, the popcorn is done. Sprinkle with a little sea salt and / or other natural spices, such as black pepper or a mix of flavors.
