Probably when you saw the title, you thought it was about how your clothes would be affected. Maybe it was that drying them on a string will wear them out or make them lose their shape. Nothing could be further from what we want to tell you. Our concern is that drying clothes on a string in your house can lead to health problems.

This is due to the moisture that the clothes emit when you dry them. As you know, this is one of the things that creates good living conditions for mites. One of the other relationships they love is a dusty house.

As a result, this environment will also be the perfect place for hay fever. Hay fever is bad enough. That said, it can greatly affect people suffering from allergies, asthma or other respiratory diseases.

The Department of Ambiental Architecture Investigation in Glasgow, Scotland conducted a study with important findings.

The group studied 100 homes. Of these houses, 87% dried their clothes on string at home. They took a look at the houses that dried clothes on string, and these houses had enough moisture for both mites and mold to grow. They also found that in these homes, 25% of the residents had a weakened immune system and suffered from lung infections.

Everyone has a washer, but not everyone has a dryer. Why? Admittedly, it is rare to see a dryer in many countries around the world. This is partly due to their high prices.

On the other hand, electrical devices such as dryers are bad for the environment. So, what can we do?

Tricks to dry clothes on the string quickly

If we have no other option, we should learn the best way to dry clothes at home. And, of course, we want to do this as soon as possible.

1. Keep spaces between the clothes on the leash

By doing this, each garment will have its own air. This also means that they will not trap moisture from other clothes.

2. Turn over thick clothing

Fabrics such as jeans are very thick. They can be difficult to dry at home. However, you can  reduce the time it takes to dry them if you turn them over. Once one side has dried, we should turn them over.

4. Put them in the freezer

This is a very interesting method. Think of the rainy days when you have nothing to wear. But, you also have to go to work the next few days. Well, take a plastic bag and put what you want to wear in it. Then freeze the clothes. When the clothes thaw , you will be surprised that everything is completely dry. All you have to do is iron your clothes and you’re ready to go.

We need a sustainable architecture

In the study, the authors also talked about the impact of architecture. They said that ideally, buildings should be built with areas to take care of clothes.

These can be either indoor or outdoor areas. It can also be in the home or in a common area. That said, the second option is better. This is because it reduces the need to use dryers.

We can use a dryer in bad weather, and especially in autumn or winter. But, when the sun comes up, we should go back to traditional methods. Having a drying area at home means having a smaller living space, but we can enjoy the pleasure of having a terrace at home.

Today, more than ever, people know the impact of such an action. After all, this is something they take into account when planning cities and neighborhoods. The consequences of this way of thinking are obvious. Not only do we take care of ourselves, we also take care of our planet. This gives the opportunity to live and create.
